Do any of you have bad days where you get really discouraged with your photographs, or even photography in general.
I was having one today but I am starting to come around again. It is really weird.
Does this happen to anyone else?

Absolutely! For me, taking photographs is an art form. You can't always get it right, especially for those of us, like me, who have to work at making a good photo. There are so many things that must come together perfectly to get a good shot. Some we can control like composition, focus, depth of field, exposure, etc. Others we can not like subject, lighting, etc. A good shot need most of these things to come together. The perfect shots need all of these things to come together. Sometimes I'm surprised we get any good photographs at all!
Living in Canada (and the northern States) makes this even more difficult. In fact, I think I have S.A.P.D. (Seasonal Affective Photographic Disorder).

Oh, and don't get me started on inspiration!
Sometimes I'm glad this is a hobby and I don't have to do it for a living.

Nah, it's just a hobby and I'm not self indulgent in that way. Tomorrow is another day. I always know I'll take lots of decent shots on holiday where the subject matter is rich.

I hate to realize this but I think that in a few months, our worst day up till now will be looked at as a good old day compared to how things will be by then. I wish I could think otherwise but the fact is, I'm an American and in a few months other people might be saying things like: American? Oh yeah, maybe you can get a job as a blade runner.

Sure. I have bad days sometime. I look at all the gear that I've acquired over 30 years of shooting and think that I don't have the talent or the eye to do it justice. But then, I look at some of the wonderful images I've captured during those years - some shots that there will never be an opportunity to recreate, and I realize that it's more important that I have a creative outlet than whether I deserve the equipment that I have.

I actually find that the pics I take for work to be very easy with very little creative latitude and those never come close to being bad days. When I’m out for fun they are also never bad days… Maybe frustrating as I have a vision of what I’m trying to get and it just isn’t working, but those are not really bad days just frustrating ones. Now the day my mom dies, that was a bad day.

A bad day of photography beats a good day of just about anything else I can think of. The one exception is flying. Nothing beats a good day of flying and a bad day of flying just isn't something you want to experience at all...!

Almost every start of a shoot is a bad day for me...lol Then I slowly get my settings right and things start to come together. It's my lack of experience mainly. Sometimes, I'll finish a shoot, unhappy...then get to processing and realize, things didn't turn out so bad after all.
Having this forums as guidance is invaluable...and most here hold such high standards in work, that it makes me strive to be perfect.

Yes, I have bad days where I really get discouraged. Mostly that has to do with finding good subjects to shoot, in a good location. I've had several discouraging outings this winter looking for eagles. Then I'll have a really good day and that makes up for it all!

My bad days have nothing to do with photography, but everything to do with paying for it
Still haven't won the damn lottery...
