I have read through lots of macro lens threads on here. I would like to get some shots of flowers and such. I am not really looking for the spec on an insect type stuff. I read numerous threads where several people really liked using the 300L with TC's for this type shot. I would like to see what can be done with this combination for close-up shots. I am considering the Canon 100 Macro, 180L Macro, 300L f4 plus TC.

But your signature says you already have the 100 macro. Flowers? You could use something a bit shorter than 300 or even 180. How about a SIgma 150?

Oops, my bad. I sold off the 100 Macro to fund the 70-200 f2.8 IS with the intention to buy again in a month or so. So here I am a month later. Had to take advantage of the B&H thing and rebate.

A naked 300/4 will give you 0.24x at minimum focus distance and this can be upped to 0.37x if you stick a 25mm tube behind it. Not striclty macro but may be enough for your intentions.
