I'd like to know if people are using Bogen 724B tripod for 10D and what has been there experience with it. The spec says that it should hold 7.7 LBs, so it should be sufficient to hold say, 10D and 70-200 zoom, right?

I have the 728B, its the same legs just has a pan head insted of the ball head. It works great, Mine supports a digital rebel with a 28-135 (my heaviest lense) a CB flash bracket and a 550Ex just fine. This thipod isnt very heavy and my pan head is very smooth.

Thanks for your response. Will the ball-head of 724B be easier to use than pan-head on 728?

I have that tripod, but I've never used it with the 10D. I use it for my smaller, lighter Olympus C-8080WZ instead. The 10D with grip and lens just feelts too heavy for it to me.
