...remember to forward this thread to twenty of your friends, even if they're not photographers! Or else Canon will start charging you for taking photos... and your secret gay lover will never reveal themself/themselves... and your dog will rape you in your sleep.

Why april 22nd though?

Because April 1st would be too obvious.

Earth Day

So they forgot something in the specs?

* Body made of 85%+ recycled consumer two-liter bottles
* Lithium Ion batteries replaced with solar panel (not for use in rain)
* Completely weather sealed with Earth-friendly corn-based cellulose (also not for use in rain)

I think the new 5D is coming out very soon .. did anyone else see Canon's latest ad? I saw it in my copy of Studio Photography magazine and it talked only about the 1D's and the 40D ... what do you think??

AdamJL

I hope so, but right now making accurate predictions is impossible, and making decisions based on any predictions is like p*ssing into the wind.
I'd love a new camera @ that spec.

I wonder what you guys would do if Canon slipped back into the five year release cycle they had with their film cameras? Take pictures? ;)

This is a good idea. Canon should consider this. But it would never happen.

Wikipedia's OG 5D article said it was announced on 4/22. That really made me think that this thing is a joke.

I just ran across this today.

Canon Press Release: March 31, 2008

Due to numerous lawsuits against the digital camera industry from film manufactures, all new digital cameras released after January 1, 2009 will be required to have internal accounting features which track the number of photos taken. Canon has implemented this feature in a unique and user-friendly way by setting up a photo-credit system, right within the digital camera.

New cameras released after January 1, 2009 will come standard with 5,000 complementary credits (one digital photo taken per credit). Customers will easily be able purchase new camera credits through an interactive website or over the telephone if in the field. Once the user enters the alphanumeric authorization code into the camera, the amount of credits purchased is immediately updated within the camera.

Sounds like the rumor that the new 5D might have the IRIS system has some foundation.

Time to invest in a bunch of high end bodies. Would be a big market for them if this turns out to be true.

if there will be the same 5D with >6 fps burst 30 jpg ( there is no interesting move longer than 2 seconds) no one needs anymore a 1D whatever model

mind the actual 5D has a even performance like de nikon 3d
