I'm very excited to finally show off my first in what is to be a long series. Shot with an Olympus (forgive me) 35 SP on Kodak Tri-X 400 and Ilford Delta 400.

Not long ago I was on the train next to a very tired lady that kept dozing off. She would close her eyes, her head would get heavy and she would kiss her chest only to bounce out of sleep looking around wondering where she was and then look out the window to see if she missed her stop. Satisfied she was still a few stops away she would doze off again. Once or twice her head rested on my shoulder resulting in a strange mixed look of apology and embarrassment when she realised what she did. It seemed she was helpless and a slave to her sleep needs.

After some time I started to notice a lot of travelers on the way home doing the same. The day takes it out of them and the boring ride home is the last straw. This is where I got the idea to do a series of 'Sleepers - The Train Kind'.

Since I am on the train 10 times a week you can expect to see this series continue for some time. I'm sure there will be periods when I just don't get any usable shots and yet others when I ride the train end to end and come up with a dozen in a day. For now please enjoy these and look out for more on my Flickr and photoblog.

Interesting idea. I'm a commuter myself and I see the same thing. Gotta love film, are theses film scans or print scans?

Just FYI, remember image posting rules are 8 to a thread unless someone requests more. Not that I care lol.

The shots that some people think to take always amaze me. Neat idea.

Made me recall a time when I worked downtown a number of years ago and rode a commuter train. I chanced to meet up with an old friend who had the same schedule and rode the same train. She had a terrible go of it everyday because she tried so hard to not fall asleep, because if she did, she started drooling into her lap !!

I used to sit across from her and LMAO!

That's just too funny. I wish I come across a drooler in my travels. :)

since i travel so much i just have my camera with me. sometimes i see a person in my carraige and take a photo. most of the time though i get in at the front of the train and walk to the back. we have double decker carraiges in sydney so i scan them and when i spot someone i just walk up and take a photo. since our seats can flip to face either side im usually facing a lot of people and they all stare at me. by the time i focus (rangefinder camera) they tend to look away in embarrassment so i get a natural look. some people yell at me, some tell on me, some stare, some completely ignore me and yet others smile. i talk to some of them and explain what im doing. most of the time though i take the picture and walk away to the next carraige before they realise what just happened. it's really exciting to be facing all those people and taking pictures. good for the confidence.

Brilliant, I love these! 1 & 2 are my favourites, but all are unique. Great idea.
