Ok I havent realy done alot of macro shooting except trying to shoot my fish, and I want to get a good macro lense. I'm fairly new to SLR cameras only had my rebel XTI for about 5 months now but I'm getting along well with it and now want to do some macro shooting. I curently only have a Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lense and I want to have some more lenses for my bag so I can do some diferent shots when I want to. So please any recomendations and why thanks for the healp.

Canon 100mm macro is the most popular here but any of the Canon/Tamron/Sigma/Tokina macros are vg. The MPE65 is pricey and cannot take images at LESS than 1:1 magnification - great for tiny bugs though.

I've used for one year canon macro 100 mm and I can tell you that it's a great lens.
Recently I've bought sigma 180 mm macro and it's fantastic too and not too expensive.

Either the 60 EFs or the 100mm would work great. On the XTi, the 60mm is very sharp and one of my favorite lenses. I also like the compact size of the 60mm. The 100mm is larger and gives you added reach. You'll have to determine which will work for you.

I have both the Canon 60mm and 100mm macro lenses because I couldn't decide which one at the time.
What one will not do, the other will.
I enjoy them both equally on my 40D. :)

MightyWarMonger,
Here at the -=TOP TEN=- Which macro lens do you use? <-- click to see (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=160960) you can see the macro lens that many choose to use :)
I personally love my Canon 100mm f/2.8 for excellent quality and no lens extension.
