I've had the 20D for about 1 month, and I always shoot raw and use the DPP software.
I just bought a Tokina 17mm ATX lens, and it's been awesome.
However, the other day I took some pictures, and when I "developed" them in DPP, I noticed alot of "fringing" all over the place, that I never noticed before. I decided to take a test picture tonite, and sure enough, there is the fringing again.
I tried the same image in Photoshop CS, and there is no fringing at all. The image is fine! Then, I shot a JPG image of the same subject, and again, there is NO fringing, the image is fine.
I uninstalled/reinstalled DPP, but the problem still exists.
Below is a sample. It almost looks like sharpening halos, with a bluish tint.
I have output sharpening set to 0. Any ideas?
I have the cr2 file (6mb) if anybody out there wants to try it on their DPP for me....
TIA

I just tried a shot with the 50F18II lens, and got the same result.
A bluish halo/fringe around the text in DPP, but everything is fine in PS CS, and when I shoot JPG.
The wierd thing is, I dont notice this on my older raw shots processed with DPP, even if I open and process them now. I wonder if it might be something with the DPP software and newer firmware?

I just discovered that this problem is a fault with the DPP demosaicing algorithm.
Read this article:
http://www.outbackphoto.com/artofraw/raw_14/essay.html

I just tried EVU, and the problem is gone.

Did I read that article too fast or does DPP not support the 20D?

I was just going to offer looking at the cr2 for you,
but I guess you are good now

Digital Photo Professional (DPP)

We do not intend to go into every detail of DPP. We just want to find out how
useful this application is for all Canon photographers.

The first surprise is that only the 1D, 1Ds and 1D Mark II are supported and
no other Canon digital cameras. We find that hard to understand.

Yes, DPP comes with the 20D.
That review was before the 20D was released.
It's too bad about this problem. I have had to switch to EVU/Breezebrowser which really is a pain to use compared to DPP.

That's too bad. Whatever you are used to is best.
I'm glad I'm a PSCS person, though I like the BW
preview in EVU

I like the workflow of PS CS. However, I have some issues with it's colour reproduction. The reds are especially problematic.

Trying to get a good custom wb with EVU or Breezebrowswer is a pain in the butt compared to C1 Pro, or even DPP.
I really hope the rumored DPP 1.5 release fixes this problem, but I have a feeling it won't.
