This is an interesting and unusual shot. I find the tree branches on the right are somewhat distracting. Changing your viewpoint slightly could have eliminated them or a little work in photoshop would help.

Nice shot though.

thanks for the comment... i had that in mind but i did not crop out the tree because i thought this could give the picture a sense of dimension. i would like to hear what other people think about it. thanks again.

I like the idea, & have been thinking about a series of shots in the same theme for about 5 years! It seems as if there are social rules as to just how close they can sit next to each other & they make interesting patterns.

that is a very interesting comment.
If you look at the spacing, the larger birds have more room either side, and it's consistent throughout the image too.
nice shot also, I like it a lot

thanks for the comments guys.... yes the patterns are interesting... i did not notice it at first but i have always been fascinated by the discipline of birds and other animals.
