Captive Mantis. Found her a few days ago. First photos today - letting her settle in to her new home. All shot through glass except the first shot and no flash for most so not going to put MJ to shame just yet :)

Females have 6 segments for the abdomen: (ISO 800 - don't go that high very often)

some nice selective focusing. I guess they wouldn't survive our winters here on a diet of Bumblebees and springtails?

no they wouldnt.they only live for 1 year any way.if u want a cup of chinese mantids for free pm me..your have to pay postage tho,.u will need some fruit flys or something also.

you not gonna get like MJ cause he's been at it year round. sooner or later he will get good at it :D:D:D j/k MJ. they do look alot like my shot too.
