what kind of diffuser of his (name is gary fong) did you try to make? it wasnt a lightsphere, cos that doesnt look like one (which should probably be quite easy with a large milk bottle, upside down, with the opening enlarged to fit the flash head into
btw - i see you have been into the easter eggs already...

Lighting looks very good to me :)
I suspect anything that makes the diffuser head bigger than the the flash head and gets it away from the flash head will give better light. One slight concern is you don't end up in a position of the heads where light is bounced from the underside of the diffuser directly into the lens.

I think it was delantech who said something about the diffuser being away from the flash itself makes it diffuse better.....or something like that.
Plus every1 els seems to be getting fongs so i decided to try make some haha

Be careful when you spell check "Fong"... :D
The light looks diffused, but the quality of the light looks "off" to me (could be the way you are post processing as well). If the plastic is translucent (and not transparent) then try it without the tissue...

Novel idea, lance v. I agree you need to cool the light a bit (WB, I mean).
I bought the Fong Puffers but damned if I can figure out how to securely attach them to the Canon MT-24 twin macro lites so that they're removable.
How did you do it, macro junkie? Velcro won't stick well to the material the Puffers are made of.

Yeah, great - and that's the last time your MT-24 Twin Lites see the inside of the Canon faux-leather carry case! :p

Dalantech, your macrophotography is absolutely superb and you have a well worked out system for doing it very successfully and with mindbending results. I have personally benefitted from your suggestions and from your site, too.
Roll your eyes if you must, but there are some goofy neurotics like myself who would prefer not to irreversibly modify their equipment for a variety of reasons, whether it be for resale purposes, aesthetics, the ability to store the equipment in the bags made for them, etc. Not really such a stretch, after all.
I was simply looking for an alternative to superglueing or hot glueing. Before I whip out the Guns of Navarone I'd like to try something a bit less committed.
Again, kudos to you on your work - :)

Well I used a few thin strips of gaffer's tape (Permacel Professional grade) on the ends of the Puffers which leaves no residue and Velcro loops on the flash units, hooks on the gaffer's tape.
Works beautifully. And I'm still using my Canon soft pouch! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y28/b_d_bop/EyeBrows.gif

I've just hot glued my diffusers on - its hardly irreversible, would rub off quite easily. Shame the assist lamp gets diffused too but it still sheds light. I calculated that if you attach the diffusers at a lower point to clear the lamps you wont be able to click heads to minimum angle. I suppose you could notch the diffusers!

what about trimming the diffusers down so they clear the light? i dunno how much that would involve removing as i dont have the 24ex :(

You spend $$$'s on a flash and you can't spend $20 on some diffusers?
