Hi, I've just been browsing through the very latest issue of a UK supermarket "Direct" catalogue, and in the Camera section it clearly has a 20-35mm Canon lens, complete with Red ring. I can't quite make out all of the writing on the lens, but it could read f2.8!

The description under the picture says that the lens cones with a case and the ET-60 hood; as all "L" lenses come with both cases and hoods, it makes this very interesting. It rather looks like they have published a picture before an official announcement from Canon. The lens is priced at £329.97.

I checked the official Canon site and this lens is different from the current 20-35mm f3.5 USM.

I can't do a fancy linky type thing here, but try this: http://direct.tesco.com/product/images/?R=200-9875 and it does say f2.8L

Looks like I got it wrong (along with the supermarket) I just found out that they are using the picture for an old lens....

The Canon 20-35mm 2.8L is discontinued. The current successor is the 16-35mm II

yeah that lens was brought to market back in 1989. it was followed by the 17-35 2.8 in 1996, then by the 16-35 2.8 in 2001 and finally 16-35 mk ii in 2007.
