I'd love some information on what lenses are best for shooting Macro photography.
I'm not a Pro, and the lenses I do have are: Sigma 18-200 3.5, 6.3 OS, and a Canon
50mm 1.4.

And, I would also appreciate any info on any recommended Macro lens that would give me better results than the ones I've listed above.

I'm including some photos I shot with the Canon 50mm 1.4. On one of them the bokeh is excellent, which suggests to me that it may do well for Macro?

Thanks,

What are you defining as macro? If you want better results then I would suggest a lens that is actually designated as a macro lens. A lot of normal lenses have a macro setting on them while others are true macro.

I'm not sure how close the 50 mm 1.4 focuses, but the closer you can get to actually having the subject to camera image in a 1/1 size relationship the better results you will get.

This means that if you photograph a dime, the dime will be dime size on the negative, or on the image sensor for digital.

This forumn is loaded with shots from different lenses. Try a search and see how much you can find out from looking at the shots others have taken.

I had the Canon 100/2.8 macro but recently sold it for the a lens with more reach. I picked up the Sigma 150/2.8 macro and its every bit as sharp as my former Canon lens:

Cheapest option: use an extention tube on the 50/1.4
Better option (depending on camera and subject) either EF 50/2.5 macro, 60mm EF-s Macro or EF 100/2.8 macro.
