S20 S30 or S40? Spoilt for choice? Easy save up and go for the higher resolution S40 otherwise you will always be thinking 'if only I had that extra resolution?'.
Then seriously consider adding an IBM microdrive 340Mb (I have two) and buy a spare battery. I recommend the higher capacity one from:
http://www.batterybarn.com/nb2l.htm
at 700mah giving 30% more capacity than the standard 500mah version. I am a scuba diver and also have the WP DC300 waterproof case which is outstanding value. I have taken it to 32 metres depth. Think too about buying the Canon Ixus Collection steel neck strap for your Canon S20, 30 or 40. It's great.
See: http://www.canon-europa.com/ixuscollection/
and for a supplier in the UK try:

You MUST make sure you have some sort of insurance cover that includes water damage. The Canon 1 year warranty expressly EXCLUDES water damage. Either buy special photographic equipment cover, extend your household cover to include all risks or failing that rely on travel insurance. Check the small print for exclusions!! Remember this equipment is high value. Damage repair is expensive (water damage often results in Canon deeming it non-economic to repair) and it is eminently prone to theft.
Finally, make sure your Canon camera has file reset set to OFF. This ensures all photos are uniquely numbered and continue being uniquely numbered even after images on the CF card or microdrive are erased.
Finally, always run in the highest resolution mode otherwise what point was there in buying a high resolution camera in the first place?
Remember too that now you can earn money with your camera by taking photos of old equipment and chattels etc. that you can then advertise on www.ebay.com or www.ebay.co.uk
Even broken stuff like a water damaged S20 can be sold for cannibalisation! rather than thrown in the dustbin. Guess what people will even bid for the free 'toilet bags' given out by airlines to Club and First class passengers because people actually collect these!
For S40 owners visit the best S40 official download site for updated drivers, manuals etc.:

Enjoy and have fun.
