I tried custom white balance indoors for the last few days, and it is jaw dropping.

I mean the AWB does a good job, but with custom balance the colors are spot on.

I'm just wondering what other people think about custom balance - and why would I use other type, except for effects.

I didn't try it outdoors yet - and I wonder wheher it's as good as indoors.

I agree with you, custom white balance does work well, inside and out.

However, if you shoot raw you can forget about white balance until you process your shots.

If you prefer to shoot jpg, then it works just fine.

 Ok, I give, Lomond. Are you saying that if I shoot RAW all the white balance will be handled by programs like PS? If so, are there any tricks you care to share? :P

Yes, Raw lets you choose the white balancing after the fact. But it is always better to get it spot on rather then have to guess what it exactly was later on.

I use it 99.999% of the time, & most of my shots are RAW.

The free Canon EOS Viewer Utility will do it, too.
