Selling pics at little league games

for awhile i have been interested in selling photos at little league games this year i think i am finally going to go through with it. however before i jump in to anything i have a few questions i would like answered.

1. How do i go about selling the shots of the kids. I am afraid that if i just post them on the internet i wont make many sales. When i played baseball i remember the local photographer passing around a three ring notebook with all the prints in it. but if i do this how do i keep track of what is being purchased? and if any of you do this do you think there is any advantage to over the internet selling.

2. If i make all the prints and put them in a note book will i make enough to cover the costs of all the prints?

3. What can i realistically expect to make doing this? There are a couple of differnt leagues in my area and i would like to do all of them however i dont want to spend my whole summer wasting time and money if you guys think there is no hope at any real gains.

if there is anything else you think i should no please dont hesitate this will be my first time ever offering prints for sale and i am kind of nervous however, i do want to get out there and see what i can do.

I've done it both ways, putting them in the book and going online. If your a one man operation go online sales it saves time and gives people the option of when to buy & use thier credit card.

First make sure you have permission from the leagues head office or the coaches and get it in writing. This will save you drama in the long run. Most of the time someone has a contract to the league and don't want anyone on thier turf.

I use printroom.com and it's linked from my website so just pass out business cards and have the info on there.

Yes & no, Some leagues include photo releases with thier signup packets. Parents may not mind until you try to use it for advertisement. Then who ever purchases from you have them sign a release

I saw a book at my local Barnes and Noble that supposedly included a lot of those professional forms. I didn't look though it, but I believe it had a model release template in it.

i played baseball for four years in high and nearly every game was photographed by commercial photogs i dont remember my parents or anyone elses ever having to sign a model release.
i am not saying that it is not necessary i am just saying that i never have.

If these "pro photogs" you speak of were there for news papers or magazines then they dont need them.

I know here that @ the start of every school year that all of my kids bring home a media release for me to sign. Most parents don't really care until the photo is used in careless taste. But it's better to be safe than sorry, hate to lose everything over a disgruntle parent. I keep all good action shots just for my private portfolio for future jobs.

I dont know if any of you have read any of my other posts on this subject but i am just a college student looking to have a little fun over the summer and maybe make a little extra cash. I begging to think that this maybe a little more trouble than it is worth.

Overall to start I would check in with the league First, Hopefully if your not stepping on anyone elses $$ :x then they will give you the go ahead.
Then you would not need the parents permission if you're approved by the league. They should have that covered in the bylaws or during signups.

If you can't get in that way work with a friend who kid is on the league team and shoot & grow from there.

Make sure you have a plan, pricing, delivery,displays products. It can work just have to travel thru hoops until people know who you are.

My wife and I shoot LL games. What I do is print all of the pictures onto 8x12 contact sheets. I get about 20 pictures on a sheet and they are big enough for the parents to judge if they want them. We have order forms with pricing on them. We also have the luxury of my teenage daughter who is a great little salesperson. We give her $1 for every print that she sells and she loves it. We typically shoot all the kids and we have never had a parent ask us not to take pictures of their kids. When we get to a game my daughter lets the parents know what we are doing there and she lets them know that if they want extra attention paid to their child they just need to point him out. We get most of our large orders that way.
