Looking at some light meters and saw some 'lux meters' on amazon and was curious if it was the same thing or not.

It's not. A light meter will give you the camera settings you need for the given light. A lux meter will tell you how many lux the light is. While you could in theory convert between the two, it would be complicated.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a light meter for under $150?
