Acceptable and Believable are two completely different things.

As for this image I believe that when you say PP you specifically mean colour saturation. For me personally this image is neither acceptable nor believable. The saturation is just way too intense.

I agree with the distinction between the two. Unbelievable can be acceptable. I agree the foliage is too saturated, relative to the rest of the setting.

I hope you don't mind - I liked the picture, so I gave it a quick go.

Desaturate a lot of the grass/foliage
Color gradient beige to.. less beige
Removed trashcan
Foliage filter (Nik) on low setting (green)
Monday morning filter (Nik) - erased boy to bring him back from the shadow the filter put him in
Sharpened ~15% front ducks

I've been studying the remarks and I've given the picture another go, but I must confess that I like the first submission with it's 'velvida' simblance more. When I was first getting into photography, I was into film and my favorite films were velvida and 25 asa c-crome. I'm still partial to the heavy saturated look that these two film types could render. In my opinion the HDR shots don't come close to those two films.

Here's an attempt at maintaining more of a digital look...

PS: Awesome job on cloning out the trashcan.

I like the saturation in your second attempt better, particularly in the boys jeans and upper center foliage.
