I'd like a clear filter to protect my 70-200mm L F4 lense.

How much should I expect to pay and what kind of model should I look for?

Thanks

I'd get a center pinch cap and put the lens hood on.
Good protection and guaranteed to not effect the image quality

Ditto to Uhland, don't waste your money on another piece of glass between your subject and your sensor. . .

A good multi-coated filter won't affect your photos; a B+W MRC, Hoya S-HMC (or better) or Heliopan SH-PMC are high quality. That's what, a 67 mm filter size on the 70-200 f/4? Somewhere in the $80-100 range, IIRC.
