You might try lightening the shadows and bumping contrast too.

Seems to be too much space all over, and the eye doesn't stay with the cow?

Tried a crop and some levels....?

Hi, I really like this picture! Something about how the cow is looking over his/her shoulder at you. The feild ans sky could use some saturation and some contrast...Here's my take on it...Hope you like.

I think the sky is a bit too posturized, and probably best to remove most of it. Removing most of the foreground brings the focus squarley on the cow.

Thank you, I thought I needed to get my eyes checked.

I like the cow and the DOF. Just need to work on the sky. The DOF gives it a nice 3D feel.

My eye is having a hard time with this image. Was that DoF added in PP? It seems like the amount of blur, especially in the foreground, makes the whole scene look miniaturized. There is no exif data with the original. With what lens/aperture combo did you shoot this scene? What was the camera position and orientation relative to the ground? I not bagging on the image, I love it. Something just seems a tad bit off. Maybe it is the amount of foreground, not usually included in an image like this.

I love the moment between the cow and the camera that you managed to capture perfectly. I like Deuce's pano-type crop as well. Blow that up and mount it over a long table or a sofa.

I agree that it needs some levels adjustments but not the cropping ideas.
I liked this image a soon as i saw it, i feel the foreground makes it "completely" and it is a very unusual angle, nice shot i like it very much.

You read my mind as far as the cropping goes. I was thinking panorama-ish when I was looking through the others.

Nice one vpnd. I like the original best: muted tones, DOF, rule of thirds placement, edgy emptiness on the right: all work well. Yes there're IQ issues with the sky, but I hope it's just compression for posting to this forum. LeuceDeuce's crop was the only one with merit (though I'd give it a bit more on top to hopefully include the top of the trees at left and move the transition from field to forest onto the top third line). Cheers, Tony

i like your cow too.

yes it is compression. the original cloudy moody thing looks much better on a large 1ds file. the lens is the 85 mm L shot wide open. @ f1.2 it gives a strange surreal look to random landscape shots. thanks for the feedback everyone. Like I said before I probably won't get paid for this one, but I will probably put a small one in my office.

Fascinating capture, it really draws the eye. I would change much at all, maybe a crop to put the cow a bit more off center to the left? And straighten the horizon.

The softer colors work well for me, gives it a soft feel which is what the image evokes for me.

And straighten the horizon.

Titus that brings the age old question... Do I straighten the horizon for other photographers and viewers? Or leave it because the horizon is in fact sloped? Thanks for the input.

I straighten them to prevent all the criticism you get for not....

Unless the horizon is obviously sloped, fix it. If it has a slight slope to it, it's very likely that you are the only one that knows that it's not wrong.

I think just a bit of minor PP on the first one to give it some punch and yer golden. I like cooky animal pics.
