I am going to Fiji and I am thinking of shipping some of my gear in a pelican case via fedex. Has anyone done this or have any other ideas Thanks in advance Tim

I have shipped my gear ahead of me many times and never encountered a problem. It is good to understand the customs regulations and I always consult a customs broker if I am going to a country that I haven't gone to before and if necessary get them to assist in any paperwork that I might need.
I don't use a pelican case though. I worked for the airlines for many years and while in most cases these go through with no problems they do tend to scream, "Steal me, I've got expensive stuff in me". I use a couple of hard sided suitcases and then I make sure that everything is packed well so that things don't slide around. I have my 300,500 and 600 lenses in good cases that go inside the suitcase. I never declare a value on them with the transport company but instead make sure that I have them covered by private insurance.

You'll have to make arrangements for someone to receive, sign for and safely store things on the other end, too.
A hotel will usually do, if you don't have any other options.

I have done it before when i booked a location wedding in Florida...just make sure you keep the essentials with you...needless to say my package was not delivered on time...but it was not super important items (battery packs, backup backup flashes, batteries, etc... not to much)

Thank You for your input. I will have to do some research on the Fiji Customs. I did buy a pelican case though. I wanted it to store my stuff in once I am there. I will be shipping fed ex. I guess I can put the pelican case in a cardboard box for the freight trip.
