Ok after alot of trial and error and research I just bought a tamron 75-300 lens for my Drebel. I have the kit lens 18-55. Now my question is simple do I need to fill the gap between the two lenses? Because when I talked to the camera guys over here when I purchased I think they did the 1.6x conversion on the kit lens and recommended the 75-300 because of that fact instead of realizing there is no conversion on the kit (I think)? So my kit lens stops at 55 and my new lens picks up at 120 with the conversion.

Your kit lens has an effective maximum of 55*1.6 which is 88mm. The new lens has a minimum of 75*1.6, which is 120mm.
I'd say unless you know you need something between those two values, don't bother. Even better, use the camera for a while and see how you find the lenses. If you need another lens, get it, if not, don't.
It sounds like the sales guys are trying to make some easy money to me.

I too say don't worry in the slightest at the apparent gap. It's only extremely unlikely to be wanted let alone needed.
Have fun with those and consider some much nicer lenses sometime in the future :)

Regarding "gaps" - in old days, people got magnificent shots (and earned living) using only few prime lenses, e.g. 35mm and 135mm. I.e. from all meaningful focal lengths, say 8mm to 1200mm, they had covered only two particular points, the rest was "gap"!
Your "gap" can be filled with few steps back or forth (which are impossible in rare cases, but you probably would not bother to switch lenses in these cases, too). However, I would consider adding a fast prime - 50/1.8, 50/1.4 or 85/1.8.
