I have an s230, and every once in a while when I try to download a picture I get a No preview available message . The small thumbnail is there , but I can't open it. I'm using a 512 MB card, too big maybe? Does anyone elase have this problem? Any help is much appreciated . I've lost some nice pictures this way. Thanks Ray

Does this happen once, and the next picture goes on fine, or, once it happens do you need to just give up and start over with a new card? Does it consistently happen with about the same number (within 10-20) of pictures on the card, or can it happen at any time? Have you tried looking at the card with a file recovery utility? Do you have a second card you can try?
I don't think the card would be "too big". It might be bad, but not too big.

It just seema to happen at random. I've used other cards , and the same thing. I'm using my s230 straight into my pc using the scanner and camera wizard, trying to keep it simple because I don't care for the software canon gives you. I haven't tried a card reader, Maybe it would be different. But I'm working on a theory that it might have something to do with the auto rotate function, because I turned it off, and I haven't had the problem yet, Time will tell. Thanks for anyones help, Ray

Try, if it recurs, keeping track of how much of the card you've used. Also, are you re-formatting between re-uses of the card? Just deleting files sometimes seems to cause problems when the camera goes to write new ones out.

Perhaps, this might help. Windows seems to be thinking that your file is in use. In my case, the files I could not copy were being used for folder preview (as one of the contributors here points out). Change the folder preview to a different file to remove the lock Windows has on the file (under folder, right click on properties, customize, folder pictures, choose picture...). You can always change it back (although I have not tried that, it should work because in theory the preview should not be causing this issue). Hope this helps, Sunil
