Very nice. 6,7,8 for me. love the fact that they are not yet kissing in the last.
Just looked at 7 again. That is a great pic. The gents face has real character. Love the way the woman in the background is watching. I would crop the image to focus on the three of them and reduce the negative space.

What did you do for that picticular shot.
Flash?, Meter?, Type of lens?
Incorporate it into more of your shots.
Good job!!!

number 2:
drop the opacity of the select color flower layer. it's hot colors make it the subject and the couple the background. (rule of thumb) when posing a bridal couple, if the bride holds the flowers in front of her, they should be positioned at belly button level. sometimes it gets tricky trying to make someone look good without pointing out their flaws. the bride's posture is bad. i would her asked her "go tall" (straighten up) suggesting that it would tight the lines on her dress. the groom could have turned a little more into her reducing his body mass. also i would suggest to him that when he pictured in a pose with nothing in a hand to make a loose fist as to not minic a gangster rapper. he didn't but since i'm doing a critique i thought that i would throw that one in. if the couple stand next to each other, turn towards each, place their weight on their inside foot and step about six inches forward with the outside foot-they will naturally fall right into each other. bending the knee forward will make the pose look less posed and finally bending the bride's "show" knee over slightly towards the groom will shift her hip creating a beautiful "S" curve with her body.

thanks : )
The almost kissing was quite accidental - sometimes I ask them to "almost kiss" and I get that look too now.
The gent is her stepdad - he was so nice and a really sweet guy. I happened to be standing behind her as we started to walk out of the room - and he came and gave her a hug to congratulate her. I almost missed it, then I thought, duh... special moment! : )

24-70 f/2.8 L @ 42 mm
1/2000 sec. shutter at f/2.8
ISO 800 (it should have been less but I forgot about that)
no flash
shade
I used a Kubota Action called Lord of the Rings - then adjusted the opacity. It is found in the Kubota Artistic Tools, Volume 2 "Modern Chic" pack http://www.kubotaimagetools.com/actions.html I LOVE it. Also like Radiant People action in same pack.

Thanks for the link, although I can't afford it at the moment.
This action really enhanced your image.

The only thing is Lord of the Rings action blows out highlights to an extent - to get that "dreamy" look but you can add back some detail to places where you want it.

Not bad for your first! My thoughts:
1. Ultrawide doesn't do good things for anyone here.
2. I hate selective colour, but if you *had* to do it, why not include his lepel flower? Also, her arm looks a bit clenched and un-relaxed.
3. Watch your background. Moving around a bit would have dealt with the awkward line of the wall near her face.
4. Underexposed, awkward crop. I'd take out more of the vase and add a vignette.
5. Nice! I'm assuming you were going for shallow DOF with the flowers in focus? A little shallower would have been better, but nice.
6. Great capture.
7. Ditto. I would have done #6 in B&W for consistency ;)
8. They'll probably like it, but the moment's not quite right for me. A higher angle would have been more flattering too.
Again, I think you did well, they should be happy with these shots. I hope the critique helps :)

Thanks for the critique! It helps a lot
1. I agree on the ultra wide - however this was a very small Sunday school room - I would say maybe 7 feet wide if that - and the only way to capture everyone together was to use the ultra wide angle. It was really busy with the color posters in the background, which is why I put it in B&W : )
2. I know LOL. I'm odd. I always have a tendency to pick just one thing for selective color. I tried it with the groom's as well and it just bugged me.
3. Ah yes, this is actually a stained glass window with the highlights all blown out - I'm in an exposure class right now (Bryan Peterson) so hopefully I will learn how to not do that. Of course sometimes in the photos the blown out part looks nice - because otherwise it would be real busy background. You can tell in the color version what it is but I can see how that looks like a wall. Anyway, I still see what you mean about the line and her head.
4. I'll try that and see how it looks.
5. I wish I was going for just the flowers in focus. But if it looks like that then it was an accident. Another reason I'm taking the exposure class. I want more photos the way I intend and less by accident. I like the way it turned out though.
6. Thank You. I just showed one in color and one B&W for no reason really. I have them in both color and B&W for the BG to pick
8. This happens to be one of their favorites. I agree a little step ladder would be nice to have.
Again, thanks for the critique
