For my situation, what would ya'll suggest?
A New 300D or a used 10D

I'm coming off of a Kodak DX6490 (i was very disapointed) and am moving towards a SLR. I shoot a LARGE amount of avian photography (mostly small birds), and am also interested in doing some sports photography. I'm uncertain about buying such a large investment used....so buying new is the first thing that i would think to do, but that throws the 10D out of my price range. Since i shoot a large amount of moving subjects....and comments i've read on the AI servo...the 10D would really fulfill my needs more....idk, now i just feel like i'm rambling. But this is a big investment, and i really dont want to make the same mistake i made with the DX6490 (lack of research...aperently a month and a half wasnt enough to catch "fatal errors" )

In your situation, I'd prefer a used 10D.

Besides, you may have to consider the cost of:
- lens
- monopod/tripod
- memory cards
- flash
- bag
