Well shucks! It didn't work for me. I'm hoping someone can chime in and help me figure out what I did wrong.

I bought a wired shutter release cable from Gadget Infinity for my 30D. It works as advertised. It is the model that has the 3/32 in. jack in the side of the case.

I bought an adapter at Radio Shack (model No. 274-381) - 1/8th in. to 3/32 in. adapter (accepts 1/8 in. stereo plug and fits 3/32 in. mono jack).

I plugged my 1/8 in. cable into the receiver and into the adapter. So with the wired shutter release connected to the camera, I now have a cable connection from the Skyport receiver to the 30D.

The only problem is when I press the test button on the Skyport transmitter, nothing happens. It doesn't matter if I have the camera in Manual or AV mode, which is my preference.

I had seen a post on this a while back but I can't find it.

Any ideas? Is my Radio Shack adapter the wrong one?

I'm trying to setup a remote camera that I can trigger from the main camera.

Thanks
Mike

Well my guess is that you have the problem in the adapter.
The Skyport output connector is mono (tip and base), and you use an adapter that accepts stereo (tip, ring, base).
First of all I would make sure that the input to the Gadget Infintity thing really work as you expect. And by that I mean that it will trigger when you shorten the tip and base of the input plug. Then make sure that you use mono cable/connectors all the way between the two.

Thanks for the note. I didn't see a mono adapter. I'll check another store. With the shutter release plugged into the camera, it works just fine. I hope another adapter will solve the problem.

In the mean time, the camera hangs around my neck while I hold the monopod with the zoom on it.
