Canon i965 Problem

Dear All
I have just bought a Canon i965 and am very happy with the printer apart from there is a very slight over saturation of red in the prints i have done.
I have been using Fuji glossy paper with Canon ink,i don't think it is the paper what is doing this but something more to do with colour management.
I use the canon Easy print software or Windows XP to print the images,i read if you print the pictures through Photoshop (i have Version 2) you can change the RGB settings but don''t know how to.
Could someone please give me some advice how to get rid of the red over saturation ion my prints.

Hi,

A similar topic was posted here a few months ago.
It was suggested to lessen the magenta in the colour options
of your printer.

I have the 965 and my magenta is set to -10.

The paper used makes a huge difference, too, but shouldn't
give a serious red cast.

I don't think you should change your RGB settings in PS.

Thanks for that DD.
I will set the magenta to -10 and give it a go.
I have only use Fuji glossy on it at the moment,what paper do you use and suggest?

I use mostly the Ilford Gallery Range
and with this printer I have only ever
used the Canon inks.

I also like the Canon Matte Photo Paper,
for my own reference of some shooting
sessions as well as for presentations.

I hope the magenta minus setting helps.

Hi Julia
I set the Magenta to -10 and i think it does slightly look better than before,but i have noticed the prints do look slightly darker than my Epson 830 printer i had,i suppose i just have to get used to them.
Do you use any of the Canon software such as Vivid Photo and Noise Reduction when printing,to me from using my old Epson it looks like i have the Vivid Photo setting on when i have'nt has these usually gives the photo more contrast and the like (it did something like that in Epsons software)
Plus one more thing right at the end of the print i get a very annoying blod of ink in the middle of the edge of the paper,is there any way of preventing this.

I print from PSCS and occasionally from iPhoto
(Mac user here), iPhoto sometimes does a better
job for me when printing B&W. So far I haven't
tried printing with any of the Canon software though
I think it may be worth a try as all components in
theory at least should work well together.
AND I print most things usually at least twice...
I have also found that the prints seem to look
better the next day.

I don't know about your blob of ink though,
perhaps you need to send some plain paper with
some text through your printer to clean out left
over ink?
