Ok, I was really set on getting the 70-200 F4L, but I will be shooting a wedding with a local pro in two weeks and started to think that maybe I should get the Tamron 28-75 instead?
Is the Tamron 28-75 better suited for wedding work? I am then thinking of selling my Sigma and possibly getting the 70-200 in the future.

IMHO the 28-75 would be a more useful range for a wedding than the 70-200..

Dont forget, with your 10D you're really looking at 102-320mm, and that's pretty long. Optically, it will be an improvement over what you have already.

The 24-70 f/2.8 L is also a great wedding lens.

Well yeah!
A little difference in price, though.
Another good lens that I'm very pleased with is the Sigma 24-60. (small, light, sharp, $409)

Yes I am sure the 24-70L is awesome, but it's way out of my price range.

I only read the title, so I suggest this lens

Funny, drisley - maybe if we all mortgaged our houses we could all share that lens.

yeah!!! The advantage of that lens is that you don't have to leave your house.........you can shoot the wedding from your window :-)

The Tamron would be a perfect wedding lens. Go for it!!! And it really can't be beat for the price (I think they are offering a 30 USD rebate too!!!)............so that money can go for a good Canon prime - like the one Drisley suggested.
