20D, 580ex, Sigma 18-50F2.8 combo

I might do something very silly (ie expensive ;) ) this weekend and buy this combo.

The one question I would like answered is :

Does the Sigma lens send distance info back to the 20D so that E-TTL2 will function properly?

Whether the answer is yes or no, ETTL-II does not strictly need distance info to function. ETTL-II is a lot more than just using distance.

Thanks for the reply. I know that E-TTL2 will work without distance info, but I'll be spending ~£2.5K (got a 70-200F2.8 & more to pick up as well) and the 18-50 would be used mostly indoors with flash and obviously I want the best results possible for my money. If it doesn't I'll get some other lens instead - the 18-50 is my first choice though 'cos of the F2.8. I'll be selling my 300D to help cover the cost so I could keep the 18-55 until I get a better lens.
