I am looking for a digital camera that will allow me to take digital photos of the interior stucture of vacuum tubes. Because you have to shoot through the glass, autofocus gets the glass in focus and not the structure inside, perhaps an inch or less away. What models can you recommend that have both a macro function and manual focus? I am hoping to get something as inexpensive as possible.

The A80 and A95 both have "macro" (about 1:5 at closest) and manual focus, but you really need an SLR for good macro work. The Digital Rebel and the 50 or 100 mm Canon macros (or the Sigma or Tamron macros) would be your best bet for an inexpensive DSLR.
