Welcome to the POTN - you came to the right place!

You will probably get a lot of sympathetic nonsense about bokeh; background being OOF - thus reducing the distraction; and perhaps a comment about how you've "isolated" the subject with a shallow DOF.

Baloney! It's a whole lot of distraction and a little bit of good subject.

I think it needs more DOF and a whole lot of cropping.

Starting with this, you could darken the white blobs along the left margin and get a better image - in my opinion.

Very nice subject and very interesting. Good exposure and good color balance.

I'll just shoot more and more to improve.

100x better with the crop. very interesting/sharp photo but original had way too much distraction.
