any Canadians buying from USA ? is Warranty valid ?

Curious, with the Cdn dollar being high right now, prices seem much better to buy from US.
I looked all over www.usa.canon.com but couldn't find a single email address to ask someone there about Warranty if buying from Canada.
Before I get into working out exchange, shipping, duty, is it worth it ?, and more important, is the warranty valid.
Even if the savings are great, all that savings could be gone if something goes wrong (no warranty). I'm guessing, anything I buy here, should something go wrong, will be shipped to USA anyhow for repair.

Or if someone could provide a USA Canon email I may get a response from, that would be great.

How about non-US bought Canons, is the warranty still worldwide? I mean if someone in Australia buys from the UK would Canon Australia honor the warranty.

My understanding is that the "US" rather than grey market camera's have full warantee protection in Canada. I do know that US cameras are excluded from the Canadian Pro deal. However I doubt very much if Canon Canada would be in any great hurry to fix a US camera and rush to get it back to you. Sure they'll do it but they'd be fools to put a US purchased camera or lens ahead of a Canadian purchased item.

I've bought a lot of stuff from the US but never a camera body. My thought is that there's a lot more that can go wrong in a camera than a lens and subsequently more likely need a warantee visit.

In the summer of 2003 I bought a 16-35 & a 70-200 from B&H and saved about $1400. But right at the moment a 10-22 is going for $800US which is $963 Cdn with a .83 Canadian dollar. It's $1012 Cdn at Camera Canada. Once you play some "brokerage" games that lens may end up being MORE expensive buying in the States. So be careful.

That's a good point, and it's the reason I'm reluctant to buy a body from the US. Bought three lens from the US though.

My friend called Canon Canada before he bought his 20D from B&H and they confirmed that he is covered by full warranty even if he buys it in the states.

On a related note, I just ordered a 70-200 F4L from Camera Canada and their price is $860 Canadian, that is pretty darn close to what it would cost me from B&H.

And Camera Canada is located in London, Ontario so I can just pick it up and save any shipping costs.
So some times it is better to buy Canadian.

Yes U.S.A Camera Warranties are valid only in Canada and the U.S.A
However, all my lens warranty cards say International Warranty.

By reading the fine print, It appears that Canon's warranty service is different for lenses(worldwide) then it is for Cameras(USA & Canada).

I have had the same response from Canon Canada, saying that the waranty
is valid if the camera is purchased from the US.

HOWEVER, if you turn to the dark side (NIK*N), you will find that their cameras
are only warranteed in the country of sale (for Canada and US anyway).
