Got my 1.4x teleconverter and wanted to try it out today. Noticed that my high school's baseball game had started so I headed over to catch the last inning.

Few shots from it (nothing stunning).

Shot with my 70-200 F/4L + 1.4x Tele, most at 200mm F/4. A little sharpening in Photoshop

Can you still auto focus with the teleconverter?

Most folks have difficulty capturing facial details under cap shadows in bright sunlight but you nailed 'em -- nice rich colors too. Well done!! They would look better if you straightened them a tad though -- especially #s 1 and 2. There are so many lines on a baseball field that it's difficult to determine what's straight and what's not but known vertical lines usually provide good references. Fence posts and corners of buildings are almost always vertical and they're usually best to use for references.

Is that the standard or Pro 1.4 Tamron teleconverter?

Master - Go Redhawks! As Jerry said, you did well to get the detail in the faces under the ball caps, and your shots show good, solid timing.

The colors look a little purple, especially evident in the NCHS Coach's jacket. Who is the opponent?

Hoffman Estates I believe. Are you an Alumni?

Made some corrections

Much, much better.

No, not an alum - I cover NNHS for a prep photo company, and have been to NCHS quite a few times for various away games.

I've also worked a lot of Naperville Youth Football at Knoch Park across the street from NCHS.

Here's a shot from this past fall taken at NCHS (ended up better for the Redhawks than the Huskies):

Nice shots. Yes the colour is better on the second post.
Excellent picture sharpness.

Just a question, but with a 1.4x teleconverter on your 70-200mm f4, wouldn't you be shooting at f5.6?

Nice shots though.

i just finished a baseball shoot and i was wondering if any of the faces were dodged(under the caps). They all look natural but for some reason the catchers face seems dodged. Not knocking the photos or the pp just wondering about your workflow.
