I have read on another forum that it is not advisable to use non dedicated flashguns with the canon digital cameras particularly the 300D, something to do with the differing voltages which could result in a fried camera.
I have a Centon FH95 with a dedicated Canon module which I bought to use with my EOS 5, I have been using it on my 300D with some fiddling, the hotshoe connector pins dont line up very well but I have used it several times, since reading the thread about the dangers I have stopped using it I cannot afford any of the canon flashguns yet so I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem, can I still use my Centon? are there any alternatives to the Canon EX flashguns that can be used on digital cameras, or do I wait and buy a Canon?
Many thanks in advance
Wayne

I use Vivitar 285 HV and a Wein Safe Sync Adapter.

This wein safe sync decreases voltage to safe and it doesn't hurt your camera.

50 bucks from BH and you can use your "old" flash with a piece of mind.

I don't have this flash and I find this site.

It "seems" that the maximum voltage for 300D is 6 volts. Are they included in the manuals?

Thanks for the replies, turns out that the Centon FH95 only triggers at 5.5v I also had it checked out with a volmeter and got just over 5V, thanks again everybody.
