I found my dads old Minolta X-570 film slr and it had a Vivitar 2600-D flash on it. I was wondering if it would be okay to use it on my XTI?

You may be able to get it to work in automatic mode. You'll need to set the ISO and aperture on the camera to match the flash.
Trigger voltage is suspect. Your call. Read this:

I tested it with my multimeter and it reads 6.5-6.8V and nothing more. I've tried the flash and it seems to work, just that I have to manually sync it with the correct iso setting. You guys think this should be okay?

As long as your voltage measurement is accurate, you should be fine.

I just did some more reading and it seems Canon raised their allowable trigger voltage to 250V beginning with the 20D. Thanks for the help.
