I've been trying to get my dad to go digital, and he called me excited yesterday that he'd bought a used 10d (wish he would have called me first). Anyway...

He is very camera knowledgable when it comes to film. But his favorite macro focusing lens Sigma 50mm 1:2.8 won't focus on the 10d (It does work on his Elan). When he took the camera back to return it (he thought there was something wrong with the camera) the shop guy told him that his lens was one of the few that wasn't compatible with the 10D.

That doesn't sound right to me. My dad is almost 75yrs old, and like I said, really knows photography, but he doesn't know much about digital. Is this guy just trying to avoid taking a bad camera back? Is this sigma lens really not compatible with Canon digital?

He lives 1000 miles away from me, so I can't give him hands on help.

Thanks guys.

Annie :-)

Some old Simga lenses needs to be rechipped for it to auto focus with some digital body. Have your dad call Sigma.........I think they do it for free.

I called Sigma for him, and indeed, he needs the upgrade. He's going to send it today.

Thanks loads.
