Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the right section to post in .....but I thought I would give it a try. I'm currently starting my second year in Wedding Photography and have many wedding booked this year. Last year I started out with the XTi and the EFS 17-85 IS f4-5.6. Although I took some fantastic shots , I do realize I have to upgrade this year to either a new camera...new lens...or both (Mainly because of noise issues)

I rented the 40D and didn't find much of a difference in noise and image quality between that and the 40D (using the lens I listed above) - Am I just crazy here ??

I'm wondering if anyone thinks it's possible to use the XTi body and upgrade the lens to a Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8L USM ?? Do you think this will cut it ? I'm quite confident in my photography abilities...but not so confident in my camera/lens knowledge.

Help =)

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Glass will always be an improvement. XTI may have limitations but those are still based upon the glass mounted in front of the sensor.

Can you post some examples of comparisons between the XTI shots and 40D shots? I think it's all about exposure. I have taken pictures with my XTI at 800 even 1600 ISO with little to zero grain, IF my exposure is correct. On the other side of the spectrum, I've taken grainy photos at 200 ISO if my exposure sucks. I've never used a 40D, but I have heard it handles grain better.

The 17-55 is just as sharp and on your XTi, will be a double-edged sword!
