ON Easter Monday 2 foreign student were washed of the rocks at a very popular sightseeing spot in Australia.

I just happened to be in the area trying to get shots of Harriers, Falcons and Kestrels and got some photos of the Rescue Helicopter in action.

Here they are:

Good pictures. Did you submit them to any of the newspapers?

The message in them is...... "Never Trust the Ocean"

Horrid event, but your photos are very impressive.

Good captures of a terrible event.

Technically speaking, I'm sure the gang at transportation would tell you to go with a slower shutter so you don't stop the chopper's blade. You need the big circular whirrrr in the blade to make it look like it's hovering.

Hi All

Thanks for your comments, The Helicopter was not hovering, but searching back and forward and I wanted to get the dramatic effect of the ocean in the picture.

I did send them to News.com but no one took up the offer.

The outcome is not great as the searched for 3 days and did not find them. I have not seen anything in the papers about finding them

I'd be curious to know what your metering technique was for the first couple of shots...

White Helo against black volcanic rock yet you managed to not blow out the whites nor lose detail in the shadows.

Technically speaking: BRAVO!!!

My faves are the two close ups (#5 and #6). In the cab is where i wanna be.

Your shots are incredible. it is sad in most of these cases that it ends up as a recovery and not a rescue. The action in number 2 shows just what the crew is dealing with.

GREAT JOB

Very dramatic, I like the first shot best. Pity about the victims - that surf area looks like a very dangerous place to be in.
