I'm refering to the macro feature available as one of the auto presets on the 300d.
Question
Does this offer any benefit over using the 300d creative modes, for macro work?
I was always under the impression that it didn't but my friends non SLR camera has a much improved minimum focus distance when you switch it to macro mode.
when I found this out i thought 'hmmmmm'...

No it doesn't, its mainly for people who don't know what they're do with an SLR :D
It's much different than the macro mode on a cheapo point and shoot. :D

This same topic was covered in another thread but the 300D does not have a macro mode. It does have a close-up mode but that's not quite like the macro mode found in P&S which can have both the macro mode and the close-up modes, like the Powershot G3.
