After alot of research and debating, I am leaning towards upgrading lenses with these; Tokina AF 17mm f/3.5 AT-X for portrait work in my very small studio and the Tokina AF 28-80mm f/2.8 AT-X for using at weddings. Any thoughts or experiences anyone might have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have the Tokina ATX 17mm Pro and it is an awesome wide angle lens, especially for the price. However, I dont think it would make a very good portrait lens (with a few exceptions where you want a special wide angle look).
I would recommend the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 lens for both purposes if you think the 50F1.8II lens would be too long.
I'm not familiar with the Tokina 28-80mm lens, so I can't comment on it.

Thanks drisley, I do have a dedicated studio that is only 12x12ft so a 28mm is fine for one or two people but any more becomes a problem and I need to go a little wider. I have been using the 18-55mm kit lense and am hoping to upgrade in the Tokina 17mm price range.
