I am looking for 50mm f1.8 lens for Canon Digital Rebel (300D). Which one should I buy and where can I find a cheap one? Is there a web page that would show different kinds of 50mm f1.8 lenses?

I'm only aware of two f/1.8 50mm lenses, and they're both Canon items. The Mk I (out of production) and the Mk II (the current model).
I can heartily recommend the Mk II as being an optically superior, low-cost must-have lens.
The Mk I (if you can find it) is optically equivalent, has a metal mount ring, and has a distance scale on it. Beyond that, it's no different. Expect to pay up to $150 for one if you can find it.
The Mk II is a bargain at less than $80 brand new. Buy one. You won't regret it.

I just saw one Canon FD 50mm f1.8 Lens, EX++. How is this different from MkII?

The FD mount is for older Canon manual focus only cameras and will not fit on your Dreb or any other EOS camerea.

FD is the old manual focus mount. It will only work on EOS bodies with an adapter, and then, not well. You'll have to set metering manually, too.

In that it will only work on Canon FD cameras that were built until circa 1987.
What you want is an EF (also named: EOS) lens.

Does Tamron have a similar lens? How does it compare to Canon 50mm 1.8 MKII ?

For the price it would be silly to consider a different brand. As far as I know, this is the most inexpensive lens I have ever seen in it's sharpness category.

no nobaody else makes a fast fifty-they just can't be bothered trying to compete.
Sigma (at least) make a 50 macro that could well be as good or better than the canon equivilant but they are in a totally different price class
