:?:
I transferred my photos to a computer using xp and renamed them. unfortunately, this process made the size of the image (jpg) much larger (exemple: 2,3 MB instead of 1,2) and it was not reversible.
what can I do? I deleted the photos already on my memocard, so the only copy I can work on is the one stored at the computer.
I tried to zip with the built-in zip program of xp, but there was nearly no difference in size

Just doing a transfer and a rename from the card to the computer should not affect the size of the image. The fact that the size changed along the way tells me that you inadvertently edited the image without realizing it.

What program did you use to get the image from the card to the computer?

jpegs are already compressed, compressing a file will generally not make it smaller and can sometimes increase the size.

Simply renaming a file won't do anything, something else must have happened.
