I shot some ISO 1600 pics the other day and when I got home to process them in EVU (since DPP is kinda slow) there were gray blotches all over the photo. This was extremely upsetting, particularly since I'd shot some 1600 photos the night before and they turned out fine. I got out the camera and checked the lens and it was okay, so I took some test shots and they showed the same thing. I changed lens, no help, I changed CF cards, again, no help. I was about ready to call Canon. Then I thought, hmm, the ones I shot earlier were processed with DPP. It couldn't hurt to give that a shot. So I did. Perfect (well, no gray blotches, good color etc).

Here's the EVU process:

and here's the DPP processing:

The long and short of it is, I breathed a DEEEEEEP sigh of relief when I knew my camera was okay.

Thanks for posting Snibbetsj!
Now I know I'm not the only one with this problem.
ALL of my ISO1600 shots (and ISO3200) have this problem!
How could Canon release software with this obvious defect?
Also DPP has a couple major image bugs of it's own, but no where near as bad as this.
Here is my sample (http://www.mts.net/~lftbrain/20d/evu.jpg) showing the exact same thing!

BTW, that is an awesome picture!
One thing I like about DPP is the "Faithful Settings" colour settings. It sometimes produces very nice results.

I tell you at first I thought something was wrong with my camera and I was an unhappy camper.
I really was glad to see that wasn't the case. I noticed that some photos I took at ISO 1600 with
rather drab colors didn't show this problem but all of them with the bright colors did. I hope Canon
finds out the problem and releases a fix to EVU as a lot of people may send their cameras
in for repair when nothing is wrong with them.

BTW, that is an awesome picture!
Thanks drisley.
