View Full Version : Halloween (bad lighting -- help!)

These pics were all taken in about 6-7 feet away from the subject, using the DRebel kit lens and a 550EX. The flash is pointed straight to the subjects.

I have no idea why it came out so dark... the same pics from a G5 with on-board flash came out MUCH better exposed... can't figure out why the $500 camera can beat out the DRebel+550 so easily. (Yes, it's probably user error). Any comments?

I had the camera set at ISO 400, and normally shoot using Av or Tv modes... but someone else was shooting some of the pics, so figured the other mode would be 'safer'

settings are fine...

most likely had to do with the flash output level being set too low on the flash its self.

My D60 tends to underexpose 1 stop under flash. I always add 1 stop flash exposure compensation.

Try to read the histogram after the shots.
