A friend of mine is getting married. Him and his fiance have asked that I shoot some portrait and candid shots so they can place the photos at their wedding/reception entrance.

I'm not sure where to begin in terms of a setting, and time of day to shoot at. I'm assuming direct sunlight will be bad, but thats as far as I've gotten.

Any sample websites or galleries with similar shots? Any one have any tips for a location? A park? The beach?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

You are in the right place. Search on e-shoots/engagement shots/ect there is allot of great work here.

Direct sunlight is tough to work with, but can be overcome with proper placement, techniques, and using flash. Best to stick with morning or afternoon, or overcast which is the best scenario.

I would start with finding out what the couples favorite places are. If they hate the ocean and never go there, then the beach would not be as meaningfull. Maybe they have a favorite pizza joint they go to downtown, or park they frequent. I am no expert, but you can check out my e-shoots at my site: www.scottcozad.com

My biggest peice of advice is to make it fun.

Good Luck!
