I was going to put this in one of the General Discussion areas, but I'm most interested in the opinions of those who post in this area, so here 'tis.

My new website is finally completed. It concerns only concert photography, so there aren’t a lot of pages to it, which I think is kinda’ nice. Anyway, I’d be interested in any comments you might have.

Here’s the old one (which won’t be around much longer): Okay, that one's gone now...

And here’s the new one (which I hope will be around for a while): OnStage Photography (http://www.onstagephotography.com)

Thanks!

i like the clean look of the new one, but i still think you've got a resizing/sharpening problem w/ the gallery shots...here's an example of what i am talking about:

I hear ya'. It has to do with resizing, as I don't really sharpen anything. I've been gettin' chummy with PhotoShop, though, so hopefully things will get better before too long.

Thanks for the comment and the criticism!

also, one thing i plan on doing when my website finally gets done (hopefully in about 2 weeks' time now) is to showcase a portfolio of what i think are the best shots, in addition to the various galleries.

A+

Great [direct] pitch, nice look, very focused, very nice work to back it up.

Only one, very minor thing -- Change the displayed text on this one tag to be shorter --> Notable Blurbs, Item 1 at this time, "SVCOnline - October 27, 2007" link runs off the page.

I'm pretty sure that's on the old site, though...

Looking good Steve - much better than the old one.

First, I really agree with narlus about what look like sharpening issues:
http://www.onstagephotography.com/galleries/thumb.php?gallery=./STYX&image=styx01.jpg&width=500&height=500

But, the site looks good and is easy to follow. Doing it yourself or have you got a buddy?

First, thanks to all for the comments.

Dwight, a friend of mine in Nova Scotia built the site for me. He's far more adept at this kind of thing than I am.

The issue with the images isn't so much sharpening (I normally don't do that), but with resizing. I'm gettin' that worked out...

I'm still, essentially, a PS newcomer. They photo above was processed with some pretty cartoonish software that I got with a scanner I bought 12 years ago.

I've been messing around with filters in PS, and have discovered "Unsharpen Mask".

I hope to get all of the photos, eventually, updated.

Thanks for the comments, though. You're absolutely right. The photo Dwight posted looks horrific. The 16X20 on my office wall looks bitchin', though!

I've been working on getting a realistic website up for me for weeks now. One day I will get it done...I hope. Figures that I used to build websites for a living...the cobblers kids have no shoes!!!

Nice clean look, Steve. Too many sites are bogged down in gee-whiz stuff these days. Besides the resizing issue, I noticed that it took awhile to load. That frustrates the hell out of a lot of people these days.

Huh... You're the first one to mention that. I'll ask my web-guy about it.

I do notice that the Gallery page takes a little longer than the others, but nothing offensive. Do you find it to be maddeningly long?

The gallery loads AOK for me... I checked it out 3 days ago and today... Both times it loads pretty fast. It's a nice layout Steve...

Like it a lot. Only thing i would suggest is that you make the images a little bigger cause some of them are just too small to see what quality they are.

Nice site.
Might agree with the "small images" comment.
Not sure if I like the thumbnails to be (random?) parts of the image they represent.

I like the clean look of the site and that it's focused strictly on one kind of photography. The images as already mentioned are a bit small and have some resize/sharpen issues, and I'm not a fan of the random thumbnails. I think you might be served best by one simple gallery showcasing the best of your shots since they are all of a similar theme.

Nova Scotia eh, do you get down here at all Steve?

Cheers.
