Still trying to get the comfort level on the 1D classic that I had on the 20D - it's coming slowly but surely.

C & C welcome!

My first reaction is to shoot vertically more.

#1: Batter, you want to get in tighter and vertical. You have too much busy background. Now, if you can really get in tight, a horizontal shot works, for like waist and up if you can fill the frame with the player.

#3: Granted, there is on ball, but if you shot vertical and isolated the fielder, you wouldn't have the runner, the backup player and the car in the shot.

Nice capture on #4, too bad you can't see her face.

These look to me like you were standing to take these. Get down lower if you can.

First, I checked out your website and liked lots of your stuff. My partner and I shoot similar stuff.

I think 2 & 4 are the best. Number 1 has too much dead space on the right. Number 3 has no ball and it's hard to tell what is going on.

My partner and I shot a softball tournament all weekend, and sold prints on the last day of the event. I was really surprised to see that the coaches liked shots where they could analyze the player's technique, the players liked action shots (even if you couldn't see their faces), and the parents prefered portraits with the face visible (and didn't care much about action. That being said, I was glad I didn't have time to do much editing, and I was glad I printed everything. I found that I had something for everybody to enjoy. If I would have edited, I would have taken out stuff that someone would have enjoyed.

Technically, I think the best shots should always have the ball visible and the player's face visible. But, like I said before, ones that I thought wouldn't sell ended up being very popular and sold easily!?! Go figure...

Thanks to both posters for the feedback! I am planning to shoot both SB & BB tonite, so I am going to get down low and see what happens - I'll post some more tonite or tomorrow.

Thanks again for the replies!

oh, I just figured out that the fisrt picture is after the ball was hit. I was sitting here wondering what in the world kind of swing that was. :)

On the pictures,I agree that I would like to see more vertical. The firts picture could be framed better (something you have to be more careful of with the 1D classic). I would try cropping out to where the kid in the blue sweatshirt is hanign out in the dugout.

No the first picture is of a girl slapping (a type of hitting for lefties that are pretty fast runners where they kind of place the ball over third base or on the ground). She doesn't swing in that pitch.
