do i see some camera shake though? i keep searching for the "crisply focused" section, but am not finding it.

I wouldnt doubt the shaking. It was a 1/4 exposure handheld.

see if you can go back and take this shot on a tripod.

it is very nice composition otherwise.

I might saturate the colors a tad.

break out the tripod and give it another go.

as an alternative, try a flash. one of my favorite setups is to mount up the Lumiquest 80/20 (with an insert to bounce *all* the light forward) on the flash. just put the flash in the hotshoe, and angle the head down a bit so the light pours down on the subject. the flash eliminates camera shake, and the Lumiquest spreads out the light nicely and avoids hard shadows.
