I currently use elements 5 and LR on a Windows XP machine. I also have an Epson printer with built in card reader. Before getting PSE 5 I had PSE 4 which I left on the machine just in case. The other day I was going through and deleting programs I never use anymore, PSE 4 was one of them.
This is where my problem came in. I used to just put my cf card in the reader and the PSE 5 downloader would automatically pop up and start dl. Now it does nothing. If I go into elements and search for the reader I get a list that just says generic device, which should be the Epson, but it does nothing. If I manually click import it opens the scanner window as if I'm using the Epson to scan vs uploading from the card reader.
So I dug out my Sandisk card reader popped in the cf card. Still no auto dl. Open PSE 5 and it shows the generic device again but now it works.
Obviously I had some kind of setting clicked in PSE 4 that was associated with dowloading into PSE 5, but what I don't know.
I've tried looking in both the PSE 5 and Epson control screens but nothing I change gets the Epson reader to work, preferebly automatically.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Eric
