HS Musical Setup ?

I have been asked to take PICs of the HS Musical. This would be my first time as I spend most of my time shooting sports.

Will a 300 2.8 work if I setup in the back rows ?

Umm...i've used a 300....depends how big the theatre is...you'll really wanna go to the dress rehersal and get up front with some shorter lenses. But i do a variety of both.
