This question is mainly aimed at the sport shooter. What do you carry your stuff in when you go to the ball park - football field, baseball diamond, track meet, soccer field, etc.? I'm talking about having field access, not sitting in the stands as a spectator.

I've got two bodies w/grips, 70-200 lens, 28-75, 120-300 f.2.8, memory cards, extra batteries, notepad/pens, lens cleaning pack, small umbrella, etc.

I've been using a plain brown inconspicuous looking bag made for shotgun shooters that is basically open with a side pocket for the small stuff. The real problem is all of the gear combined is heavy to me...19 lbs. Add another 6 for the Siggy and you got 25 lbs. total. I weighed it with all of the gear in a Canon backpack (except the big Siggy).

I'm trying to figure out how to tote my gear. Any tips are appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks Zilly.

no worries its heavy but the wheels roll over most surfaces and having something to sit / float on beats having to kneel on wet grass

Mike, I carry everything in a Thinktank airport security remote stuff is carried in a canvas bag, for baseball I just use a LowePro fanny pack this holds spare batteries CF cards, for football and field sports I load up a ThinkTank Modulus Pro Speed Belt System, 6 Piece.

Zilly, I started of with the LowePro belt, not very comfortable, belt kept loosening up and pouches did not seem to fit the lenses I had. This is the system I got http://www.samys.com/product_detail.php?item=2548. Comes in different size belts, like I said I use it in alot of field sports and I use it for the PGA & LPGA
Tour when in my area and when following golfers all day it makes a big difference.

I spend years covering the NFL, working for an NCAA Div 1 University,as well as being contracted to two pro sports leagues and the Olympic Committee.

My bag of choice, hands down, is the Think Tank Airport Addicted (ifyou want a roller look at the Airport Security).

I also use,and love the Pelican 1514 which can hold everything you want in a very secure manner.

I use a Kata R-103 backpack and carry the big lens (a borrowed 120-300) in the lens case that comes with it. If you are roaming at all, I find it nice to be able to have the gear along with you. If you are shooting from a fixed location, then I'd consider the wheeled alternative.

Gee. Lots of choices. I'll check in for more options later. I see now there is no one particular setup that fits all ocassions.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

I 2nd the think tank airport security roller bag. I put a Mk III and 30D bodies, 300mm, 70-200mm, 24-70mm lenses in this bag. Have a little spare room for a flash if needed. Plenty of zippered pockets to store all accesories.

For sports I prefer a vest. Lots of room to carry what I need and I never have to put it down. If I need a little extra then I have a fanny pack that I will also put on.

To take stuff to and from a sporting events, i will drag along a Pelican 1510. But for weddings where i need to take more gear i will usually grab my 1620. I leave the case in the press room and take the gear with me that i need for the arena sports (basketball/volleyball; sports where you use maybe 3 lenses at most and don't move much). For field sports i will take the 1510 or 1560 to carry the gear to and from the complex (leave the case in the press room again), but wear a belt system to keep some more gear with me.
